  SA BRANCH PROFILES

PRESIDENT  
Fiona McDonald   
    
Fiona has worked in the community in both the disability and aged care sectors
as a Quality Manager, with a brief stint in a private hospital for over ten years.
Fiona is currently the Manager, Business Strategy Unit at omiciliary Care SA,
has experience in implementation of a variety of quality models and is an external
reviewer or the Quality Improvement Council. Prior to these roles she worked as
a Speech Pathologist in South Australia and Victoria, particularly with young adults
with severe and multiple disabilities, as well as an Allied Health Team Manager.
Fiona has a post graduate certificate in Health Service Management.
TREASURER
Stella Robinson
Stella's background is nursing having worked in intensive care units in both the
United Kingdom and Australia. Stella has alsoworked in Nursing Education before
moving into safety and quality after becoming interested in the impact of human
factors on the provision of health care. Stella is a facilitator for participants under-
taking clinical practice improvement and has been involved in root cause analysis
training locally and state-wide. Stella is currently Risk Manager at the Royal
Adelaide Hospital.
 
SECRETARY
Beth McErlean
Beth has had a long history in safety and quality, including the development and
implementation of a number of patient safety programs at RGH: project manager
of the PUPPIES project with SA Health and facilitator of the state-wide pressure
ulcer survey in 2006/2007. Beth now works for SAHS as Acting Regional
Director Quality, Safety & Performance. Special interests include accreditation,
falls and pressure ulcer prevention frameworks.
COMMITTEE MEMBER
Tracy Cooke
Tracy Cooke trained in 1976, has worked in all areas of clinical management and 
nurse education (rural and remote) mainly in ICU at the Whyalla Hospital. Now a
Risk Manager for about eight years, her main areas of interest are in safety and
quality including Nursing Handover and documentation, medication administration
incidents and compliance with legislation and Australian Standards.
 
COMMITTEE MEMBER
Erika Annear
Erika is a Management Systems consultant, including work in the areas of quality,
safety and organisational improvement. She has worked in various positions in the
health and community services sector and is a qualified social worker, trainer, and
coach. She consults in ISO 9001; SEP, QIC, OHS and Risk Standards. Erika
is passionate about organisational efficiency and effectiveness that minimises paper
work and maximises services to clients.
COMMITTEE MEMBER
Pam Selim
Pam has a Master of Nursing (Research) and has a wide range of experience in the
health industry including metro, rural, community,private, psychiatric, aged care, and
research. She is currently working in patient safety and risk management in the
metropolitan acute sector. Her main professional interests include the consumer as
the centre of care, correct identification of patients, clinical incident reporting being
used to improved systems and outcomes for consumers and improving care for
older people with chronic conditions.
 
COMMITTEE MEMBER
Heather Howard
Heather has an extensive background in intensive care nursing both in the United
Kingdom and Australia within the public and private sector. Over the past ten
years Heather has been involved in the development of an Integrated Performance
Management System proving a system for the continuous monitoring of quality
improvement projects and trended clinical data.  Heather currently works in a
metropolitan hospital as the Safety Risk and Quality Co-ordinator promoting
quality improvement projects that deliver real changes to patient outcomes.
 
COMMITTEE MEMBER
Matthew Wood
Matthew Wood is a Safety and Quality Co-ordinator for the Lyell McEwin
Hospital.  He has held roles co-ordinating projects at the state-wide level in the
Department of Health, community nursing and the acute sector.  His special
interests include incident management systems, project management and
developing information systems.
