Seminars, conferences and networking

How do I build new contacts and stay up to date with issues affecting safety and quality in health care?

Members are kept informed of important issues and given an opportunity to build networking relationships in the following ways:

Annual conference– this key health industry event features a range of Australian, New Zealand and international speakers. Built into the program are workshops to enable delegates to gain updates on practical solutions and to obtain information on safety and quality issues.

Network groups – each group makes its own arrangements for network meetings and seminars, which provide an introductory setting for new members and offers ongoing opportunities for lasting collegiate relationships to be formed.

Website – this website has been developed to provide current information on safety and quality matters and upcoming events. Links are provided to other health related sites.

Mailing list - all members with email addresses are subscribed to their network's electronic mailing list. The list is used to distribute news and information.

Journal – JAAQHC is published twice yearly to provide an update on issues, case studies and articles relating to safety and quality.

Newsletter – the Inside Quality (iQ) Newsletter is published twice yearly to provide an update on issues, local network activities and AAQHC events.

Specialist support

AAQHC members benefit through alliances with other quality bodies. At a local level we can put you in contact with people with experience and knowledge of issues facing the health care industry.

In addition we provide links to accrediting bodies and accreditation specialists.

Members receive the journal, which is tailored to the needs of the health industry and demonstrates practical examples of safety and quality initiatives.

Your membership provides you with an opportunity to express your views on policies that affect the way health care is delivered.

Your membership ensures our continued strength as a leading organisation whose main philosophy is to improve health care delivery outcomes.

AAQHC members define and direct policy through elected representatives on council who have responsibilities under various portfolios and subcommittees.

To ensure health care systems are continuously improved, AAQHC promotes collective efforts of members through:
  • recognition and rewards
  • annual conferences
  • the journal
  • discussion papers and submissions
  • education.
The diversity of AAQHC's membership base provides a vast source of contacts, information and funds to ensure we remain a pivotal influence in the health care industry.

Network groups

The Constitution provides for relationships to be either a network group of AAQHC or as an incorporated body affiliated with AAQHC. The AAQHC council is formed from nominations from the networks and affiliations.

Credentialling

The Professional Development and Credentialling (PDAC) committee and the Board of Examiners are committees responsible for the credentialling program including examinations for Fellow status. PDAC members from each network have been trained to assist members with the application process and recommendation. The PDAC is also responsible for monitoring the program and evaluating its effectiveness. Find out more in our Credentialling section.

Knowledge Management

AAQHC uses Improve.IT to assist in managing its business, and its corporate governance. Improve.IT is an on-line, knowledge management system with the capacity to report to any internally developed or externally managed standards worldwide.
